A big day of racing ahead on our home track at Matamata Racing Club!
PATCH MAN (Ryoya Kozaki, barrier 13) will line up in race 2 at 12.52pm. His last start was very good, when narrowly beaten at Tauranga, 6/10. He races well on his home track and has worked well heading today. Despite the wide draw, he should be hitting the line hard.
HIBERNIA SEA (Craig Grylls, barrier 10) will also line up in race 2. We were happy with her debut performance at Te Aroha, 30/10 and she will be much better for the experience today. She has worked well, looks fantastic and will be competitive today.
GRAND SPRIT (Taiki Yanagida, barrier 11) will go head to head with stable mates Patch Man and Hibernia Sea in race 2. She has had three trails to prepare for her debut appearance today, with the most recent a tidy third at Avondale, 13/11. We see her as a promising staying type of filly who will be running on nicely over the 1400m. We believe she's one to keep an eye on once she steps up over ground.
AMANO (Sam Spratt, barrier 11) will line up in race 3 at 1.27pm. He sprinted well last preparation on debut and we're expecting a similar performance today. He'll be ridden back and has worked in a manor that suggests he'll go a big race fresh.
MARIJA (Craig Grylls, barrier 14) will line up in race 4 at 2.02pm. She kicks off her new preparation today and will take good improvement from the run. She will be more competitive once stepping up over the mile.
TERRACOTTA (Shaun Mckay, barrier 2) will line up in race 5 at 2.37pm. She'll make her raceday debut today with solid trial form behind her. She looks in good order and we see her as a nice place chance.
PATCH PRINCE (Sam Spratt, barrier 14) is an unlikely runner in race 5 from the wide barrier. We'll look to head to Hastings next week.
TWEEDLEDEE (pictured) (Chelsea Burdan, barrier 1) will step out in race 7 at 3.51pm. He returns to the races today, after enjoying a short break. He runs particularly well on his home track and whatever he does today, he'll take good improvement from.
TWO MADDISON (Sam Spratt, barrier 18) will finish our day in the last race on the card, set to run at 4.59pm. She has been racing consistently well as of late and although she has gotten no favours with the draw, she should go close again.
