Genuine sprinter Whosyourmaster has made the most of his opportunities before heading for a winter spell with a quick fire winning double to close out his season.
The five-year-old successfully backed up from a win at Hastings the previous weekend to claim Saturday’s Mitavite Premier Open Handicap at Te Rapa.
“He’s a great horse to have in the yard and he’ll go to the paddock now, there’s not really anything else for him,” co-trainer Lance O’Sullivan said.
There’s no stopping Rory Hutchings at present and his golden run of form continued when he urged Whosyourmaster to a long-head defeat of Spin Doctor with Goldminer and The Filly also close up.
“It was a lovely ride by Rory and he understands the horse well,” O’Sullivan said.
Another consistent performer in Shandream also gained a major reward when she took her chance to record a long overdue win over 1600 metres in the Presland Tocker Insurance Premier.
“She’s a mare who won over a mile early in her career and I’ve always wanted to get her back to the trip,” co-trainer Richard Collett said. “She doesn’t stop and she’s tough.”
A stakes winner of eight races, Shandream camped on the leader’s quarters and she stuck grimly to her task in the straight to beat the favourite Kelly O’Reilly and the front-runner Jubilate.
“We worked a bit early to get across and then she relaxed,” rider Vinnie Colgan said. “When I pushed the button she put her down and tried hard.”
