Tiger ready to roar for owners at Trentham.
23 Jan 2014The connections of Tiger Moss have every reason to be looking forward to Saturday’s Wellington Cup day meeting at Trentham.
Wellington Cup Day is always a special time to be at the races and for the Tiger Moss crew there is the added bonus of having a realistic chance to pick up some of the good prizemoney on offer.
Tiger Moss will start in the $40,000 2014 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival Premier, a rating 75 1400 metres, and with Craig Grylls aboard she rates a top hope.
Craig has ridden her in each of her three wins and the second of those was also at a Premier meeting. It was the Auckland Cup Carnival at Ellerslie last March and she followed a debut win at Pukekohe with a deadheat for first over 1200 metres.
Tiger Moss has had a few niggling setbacks along the way but her owners have been patient and they are now being justly rewarded.
She recaptured her best form at Tauranga on December 13 and would have been unlucky not to win that day as she was blocked for a run halfway down the home straight. Once into the clear, she unleashed an irresistible finish to score by a short neck.
That was her second start over 1400 metres and followed an encouraging fourth at Matamata the previous month. And now with that grounding she should be ready for the same trip on the roomy Trentham track.
Tiger Moss has been in good hands this week with Lance O’Sullivan riding her in some of her work and he has given her the thumbs up for Saturday.
Best of luck to the Tiger Moss crew which includes Sir Colin and Lady Verna Meads, who had so many thrills with the top Cambridge filly Ruud Awakening last season
